Blue Ribbon Pride
This week is the county fair, and my two oldest children submitted entries for the very first time!
Sydni submitted her black & white contrast painting into the “Clover” division which is for 4-H members from 5-7 years old. The entries are not judged, but it gives the children a chance to participate and earn a ribbon.
She is proud of her ribbon and can’t wait to bring it home next week!

Cole chose small engines for his project area this year. He decided (with his Dad) to submit a carburetor, with the parts labeled. We found an old lawnmower carburetor and he worked with his Dad to learn what each of the parts was called and what they do. We found some pictures of the same carburetor online and he labeled them for his poster board, and them glued the corresponding numbers to the carburetor.
Last Wednesday, we took the entries to the fair grounds and Cole had to find his area and the judge on his own. I was not allowed in with him at all while he explained what he project was and gave all the information. He came back out feeling confident that he knew all the parts and what they do, and explained it well to the judge.
The 4-H building opened up to the public on Sunday and we had a chance to see how he did. He won a first place blue ribbon, a champion ribbon and a memorial award!! We are all very proud and now Cole is even more excited to enter the fair next year in everything from small engines, to baking and art!
